Lately I have been asking myself: what would it be like to let go of the need to be somebody and instead open up to simply being?
As these new sparks of change make their way through my synapses, I am humbled to be leading Moon Glow Flow: A Moon Salutations and Yin Yoga workshop. This is a practice of being with the big questions without actually having to ask them, and instead, simply feeling, breathing, and yes, being.
April 25, 2015. 12:00-3:00 p.m. Wake Up Yoga Fairmount.
Now that Spring is in full effect, melt away the last layers of cold and make space for growth. This hip and heart opening focused workshop will begin with a well-constructed yin yoga practice designed to relieve stiff joints and tight muscles. Following the deep opening, we’ll flow through a vinyasa practice, warming the body from the inside out. We’ll start slow and steady and build up to peak hip and heart opening, before grounding back down and settling into a cozy savasana. The space we’ll create in the hips and heart center will clear out any stagnation and chill still lingering from the winter, so that we may fully embrace all of the blooming possibilities for growth and change this Spring season.
While there is nothing quite like the energy of leading an open-levels class, teaching those new to the practice of yoga holds a HUGE place in my heart. One of the reasons I love teaching beginners is that they continue to always teach ME. Together we learn and together we practice. Starting the first week of March, I will be leading two different series geared towards beginners. Whether you have never stepped on a yoga mat, or have been taking classes for some time, and are interested in diving a bit deeper into the specifics of each pose, I have an offering for you:
*Brand New Beginners Level One: 8 Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m. March 3rd-April 21st. Wake Up Yoga Fairmount. Register Here.
*Brand New Beginners Level Two: 6 Sunday afternoons from 12:00-1:30 p.m. March 1st-April 19th (no class on 3/15 or 4/5). Wake Up Yoga Fairmount. Register Here.
December 20, 2014. 2:00-5:00 p.m. Wake Up Yoga South.
Inspired by Shiva Rae’s Moon Salutations (Chandra Namaskara), which are designed to reconnect you with your cooler side through the fluid, lunar energy, I will lead you through slow flowing cycles of movement before settling into the quiet, yet powerful, opening postures of yin yoga. This combination of gentle movement and deep release will reawaken you from any darkness and bring you back to balance. The intention is to give you the gift of time and space in which to tap into your deepest intentions and resolutions for the new year, in hopes you leave feeling inspired to stay inwardly connected through the chaos and inherent changes of the season.
